It’s been a while since we’ve had a featured blogger but who better to kick things off again than the wonderful Emily from Emily’s Recipes and Reviews?
Her blog is a mixture of fantastic reviews and beautiful baking – her cheeseburger macarons are a sight to behold! Check her out on Instagram and Twitter, but not before finding out more about her inspiration below..
Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog…?
I live in North West Leicestershire and when I’m not cooking, eating, washing up or dreaming about my next meal, I’ll be found writing over at recipesandreviews.co.uk. It’s a food blog which, as the name suggests, features recipe ideas and restaurant reviews.
What have been the most popular posts on there?
My most popular posts usually revolve around my sushi making, homemade pasta and macaron baking. I love being creative and having new foodie challenges that I can spend a whole Sunday afternoon on.
Why do you think the East Midlands is so good for food lovers?
Since we’re lucky enough to be in a pie (food on the brain) of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire counties, we can enjoy all the local East Midlands produce in all the fab farm shops and delis. Who wouldn’t want to live nearby the home of Red Leicester, Bakewell tarts, Stilton and Melton Mowbray pork pies? I do have food envy of Londoners but at least it’s only an hour away on the fast train!
What are your favourite restaurants/cafes in the East Midlands?
My favourite tea room has to be Mrs Bridges in Leicester, whilst my favourite Japanese is Little Tokyo and Indian is either Kayal or Tamatanga in Nottingham. Too hard to pick just one!
What is the best meal you have ever had? a) in East Midlands cafe/restaurant b) anywhere ever!
This is such a tricky one too! I wouldn’t say I’ve been anywhere for fine dining but love little gems. I always have fantastic meals at Jones’ on Queens Road in Leicester. Although the best ever sushi I’ve had was Sticks n Sushi in London.
Do you have any favourite East Midlands-based food bloggers?
Of course I’m a fan of Alex of gingeybites.com – who I met through food blogging and now see quite regularly. I also love to read Emma forkandgood.com for her funny foodie tales and brilliant photography and Roz of thefoodiecoupleblog.com for her honest and interesting restaurant reviews from the midlands and beyond.
